Materials Needed
Before starting the folding process, you will need a square piece of paper. The dimensions of the paper can vary, but typically, a 6 inches x 6 inches paper is used. You can use any type of paper, including origami paper, printer paper, or even a napkin. Just make sure the paper is square, and you are ready to start.Step-by-Step Guide
1. Begin with the paper square in front of you, with the colored side (if there is one) on the bottom.
2. Fold the paper in half diagonally, crease it, and then unfold it.
3. Fold the paper in half diagonally in the opposite direction, crease it, and then unfold it.
4. Fold the paper in half vertically, crease it, and then unfold it.
5. Fold the paper horizontally, crease it, and then unfold it.
6. With the creased lines facing up, bring the top point of the paper down to the center point.
7. Crease the paper along the new diagonal line, and then unfold it.
8. Repeat the same process with the bottom point of the paper, bringing it up to the center point.
9. Crease the paper along the new diagonal line, and then unfold it.
10. Fold the top point and the bottom point of the paper to the center crease line.
11. Flip the paper over, with the colored side facing up.
12. Fold the paper in half horizontally, crease it, and then unfold it. You should have two flaps that fold up.
13. Bring the right point of the paper to the center point of the crease line, and then repeat with the left point.
14. Fold the paper in half along the crease line, and then fold down the top flap to form the head. Crease it along the center line, and then unfold it.
15. Fold the two flaps of the head down along the crease line, and then crease it back up along the center line.
16. Fold the tip of the head down to create the beak.
17. Fold the wings down on both sides of the bird.
18. Pull down on the tail to create a wing shape.
19. Finally, gently pull the wings outward to spread them apart and create the completed paper crane.
