Gathering Supplies
The first step in making a paper crane is to gather all the supplies you will need. The supplies needed are simple and easy to find, and they are as follows:- Square sheet of paper: You can use any size of square paper for making a paper crane, but the recommended size is 15cm x 15cm for beginners.
- Flat surface: A flat and clean surface is necessary to work on smoothly. A table or a desk will be perfect.
- Patience: Making paper cranes requires patience, especially if you are a beginner. Take your time and enjoy the process.
Folding the Paper
Before folding your paper crane, make sure you understand the basic folding techniques. Follow the steps below to fold your paper into a crane:- Step 1: Start with a square piece of paper, and fold it in half diagonally to make a crease. Then, unfold it and repeat the same process by folding the opposite diagonal side.
- Step 2: Hold the paper and push the corners inward, collapsing the paper into a square shape. Flatten it out and fold it in half horizontally.
- Step 3: Fold the paper in half vertically as well, bringing the top half down and creating a crease at the center. Unfold it and then bring the top half down again but only halfway to the center.
-Step 4: Fold one of the top layers diagonally to the center crease. Repeat the same process on the other side. Then, turn the paper over and repeat it on the opposite side.
Finishing Touches
At this point, your paper crane is almost complete. Follow these simple steps to finish it off:- Step 1: Fold the top point of the paper down to form the head of the crane.
- Step 2: Pull out the wings of the crane by gently pulling on them to create a 3D effect.
- Step 3: Fold the tail up and down to finish the final touches on the paper crane.
